V26-303 : TRANSPORT LINKS AND THE LOCAL ECONOMY

The report of the Chief Executive provided details of a collaboration between the Automobile Association (AA) and the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) in a major national survey of Local Authority Economic Development Officers about views on transport links and their local economy.

The report on the survey considered that unnecessary and damaging waste of resources was caused to industry because transport infrastructure let it down. The key reason for this state of affairs was believed to be the lack of resources made available for transport, and clear priorities for investment, from both public and private investors was needed.

RECOMMENDED

That members consider the findings of the AA/CBI report on Transport Links and the Local Economy, and publicise its existence in the Waveney area.
