V26-300 : NORFOLK AND WAVENEY TEC/CHAMBER MERGER

The report of the Chief Executive updated members on the report at minute V24-106/3 outlining plans to create a Norfolk and Waveney Chamber of Commerce, Training and Enterprise (CCTE). The original concept was that this would be formed out a merger between the TEC, Chamber of Commerce and Business Link in Norfolk and Waveney.

Following advice from the Department of Trade and Industry the original plan for a tripartite merger involving Business Link was discouraged for the short to medium term. It now seemed likely that any merger between the TEC and the Chamber was at least a further year away. From a Council perspective as a partner organisation the further delay was regrettable as it introduced uncertainties and confusion into relationships with the bodies.

RESOLVED

That any further significant developments on the Norfolk and Waveney TEC/Chamber merger be reported to members.
