V26-285 : LOWESTOFT MANAGED WORKSPACE SCHEME
The report of the Director of Central Services considered a proposal to divert a surface water drain to allow the Managed Workshop Scheme to be built as planned at South Lowestoft Industrial Estate, as approved at minutes V25-505 and V25 - 1433. The drain had been adopted by Anglian Water Services Ltd for the possibility of emergency flooding and despite technical arguments concerning the need for the drain they were not prepared to abandon it or allow a reduction in size. The cost of division was estimated at £16,000.
An alternative was to move the site further to the south but this would leave the Council a site of approximately .75 of an acre with development on both sides removing flexibility and there would still be loss of value due to the drain.
RECOMMENDED
That a sum of £16,000 be made available from the 1998/99 Capital Programme to relocate a drain on the South Lowestoft Industrial Estate.
*No Budget Provision.
