Application for replacement uPVC windows and doors.

These two applications were considered together as they were in the same road and were similar applications.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that the above applications were for replacement windows in the South Lowestoft Conservation Area, which had recently been extended. The first application was for straightforward replacement in virtually the same style as existing, but in uPVC. The Director felt that a compromise would be to accept uPVC windows, but in the style of the original windows.

The second application was a larger, three storey building. The proposal was to replace the existing windows with uPVC, however to restore the windows to the original design would necessitate the expense of putting back some brick corners to the windows. The Director felt a compromise may be to restore some of the vertical elements to the windows. He recommended approval of both applications subject to the comments made above.

RESOLVED

1. That the Director of Planning and Building Control be given delegated authority to grant planning permission to application W7857/2, subject to the new uPVC windows being of a traditional design to the Director's satisfaction.

2. That the Director of Planning and Building Control be given delegated authority to grant planning permission to application W17049, subject to restored brick arches and other vertical features and the new uPVC windows being of a traditional design, to the Director's satisfaction.
