V26-228 : W17055 - 21 STATION ROAD, BECCLES
Application for replacement of two dormer windows.
The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that although the main windows in the above building were replaced in uPVC before the Article 4 Direction came into force, it was preferable to repair or replace these dormer windows in traditional materials. The applicants argued that they should be allowed an exception as these were the only dormer windows in the street so no precedent would be set, their position meant the windows would be difficult to maintain, and seen from a distance good quality uPVC windows would be indistinguishable from wood. The recommendation of the Director was for refusal. The Committee felt that many of the applicant's arguments could be sustained, and were minded to approve the application subject to the replacement windows being of the same design as the originals and of high quality.
RESOLVED
That planning permission be granted to application W17055, subject to the replacement windows being the same design as the original windows, and of very high quality.
