Application for listed building consent for first floor rear extension and alterations.

These two items were considered together as they referred to the same site.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that the above application had been reduced from a proposal refused on appeal. There were now no windows in the new elevation facing Park Lane, and there had been a reduction in the overall bulk of the extension. Objections had been received from neighbours due to the dominant effect of the extension, and the Town Council endorsed this view and recommended refusal, as did the Southwold and Reydon Society.

The Director recommended approval subject to the feature window in the rear elevation being of a simpler design, however members felt that the proposed extension would, indeed, be too dominant.

RESOLVED

That planning permission and listed building consent be refused to applications W11765/5 and W11765/6 respectively.
