Application for change of use from retail to food takeaway.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that three professional businesses traded from the above premises, and that the ground floor front area was currently vacant. There were several other shops in the area, including a public house and fish and chip shop, and objections had been received to the proposal concerned with smell, fire risk and parking problems.

The Town Council also opposed the application due to parking and conservation area concerns. Some of the objections received to the scheme may have been fuelled by commercial competition, however the Director recommended that if approval was to be given there should be strict controls of fumes and limited opening hours.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be refused to application W7733/3.
