V26-210 : W2199/5 - FORMER GARAGE WORKSHOP, CASTLE ORCHARD, BUNGAY
Application for change of use to visitors centre
W2199/6 - FORMER GARAGE WORKSHOP, CASTLE ORCHARD, BUNGAY
Application for conservation area consent for demolition of lean-to extension and part of boundary wall.
These two applications were considered together as they referred to the same site. The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that the above was a small building on the approach to Bungay Castle. The scheme would keep the basic form of the existing buildings and include a museum, reception, craft areas, tourist information, cafe and kitchen. The corner of the site would include an entrance gate and the whole site would be decoratively paved. There would also be a row of stores, and a doorway through the boundary wall for visitors to enter via a footpath.
The Director felt that this was a well thought out scheme, and recommended approval. RESOLVED
That planning permission and conservation area consent be granted to applications W2199/5 and W2199/6 respectively.
