Application for listed building consent for garage extension and pitched roof.

These two applications were considered together as they referred to the same site.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that this was an attractively designed garage extension incorporating a steeply pitched roof in character with the adjoining listed building. The neighbour had objected to the visual impact, however this would not be so serious as to warrant a refusal. Moreover, as the trees had survived the erection of the existing flat roof garage, it should be possible for them to be retained to screen the extension.

RESOLVED

That planning permission and listed building consent be granted to applications W15559/1 and W15559/2 respectively, subject to hand digging of the foundations for the garage to minimise damage to adjacent trees.
