W17052 - 101 YARMOUTH ROAD, LOWESTOFT

Application for two storey side, single storey front and conservatory extensions.

These two applications were considered together as the houses were neighbours.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reported that, although neither of these extensions would have an adverse effect on the neighbouring property, to allow both applications to take place would create a terracing effect. Each application would be acceptable in the absence of the other, to preserve the gap between the properties, however it was important to consider both applications and approve either both or neither of them.

The Director felt, however, that if both applications were refused, the smaller elements of the extension to application W17052, deleting the main proposal but keeping the conservatory and small rear extension, would be acceptable. Members concurred with the Director's recommendations.

RESOLVED

1. That planning permission be refused to applications W17072 and W17052.

2. That the Director of Planning and Building Control be given delegated authority to grant planning permission to an amended application W17052 for rear and conservatory extensions only.
