V26-174 : SERVICE CONTRACT - DOMESTIC GAS CENTRAL HEATING

The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services reminded members that the domestic gas central heating servicing contract was due to be retendered in June 1998. The contract was originally awarded in 1993 and extended on two occasions, lastly in January 1998 at minute V25-1326, with the Contractor maintaining original price rates.

The Chief Auditor had been consulted on the extension and it was his view that it may exceed Standing Order 6.12 which delegated the extension of a contract to a Chief Officer. Consequently Committee approval was required to permit a further extension of the contract.

RESOLVED

That Standing Order 6.12 be suspended, to allow the domestic gas central heating servicing contract to be extended for a further 12 month period to expire in June 1999.
