V26-1400 : W14640/3 - 85/86 HIGH STREET, LOWESTOFT
Application for change of use to licensed restaurant with new shop front. The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control reminded members that this application had been deferred at the last meeting for further details regarding the design of the new shopfront. The applicant proposed to change the use of the building to a restaurant on the ground and first floor and to install a modern style shopfront, including the insertion of some additional windows on the first floor. The existing brickwork would be rendered. The design of the shopfront was acceptable, and with the new first floor windows it was considered that this enhanced front elevation, although modern in design, was appropriate for the building and would generally enhance this part of the Conservation Area. No objections had been received to date, although the Statutory Consultation Period would not expire until 3 March 1999. The Director recommended delegated approval subject to no objections being received by that time.
RESOLVED
That the Director of Planning and Building Control be given delegated authority to grant planning permission to application W14640/3, subject to no sustainable objections of substance emerging before the expiration of the consultation period.
