V26-1397 : W536/63 - KESSINGLAND HOLIDAY VILLAGE, BEACH ROAD, KESSINGLAND

Application for screened compound.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control outlined a proposal for the creation of a new site compound for the storage of maintenance vehicles and of associated materials to be housed in two sectional storage units. These facilities were currently located at the centre of the site adjacent to the swimming pool, causing conflict in the summer when the Village was at its busiest.

The area chosen for the compound was adjacent to the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the applicant proposed to form a two metre high bund around the compound and to extensively plant with trees and landscaping to screen the site. One letter of objection had been received concerned with altering the character of the marshland and potential drainage problems on the site.

The Director considered that with appropriate landscaping and screening the compound would not have such a significant impact on the landscape to warrant a refusal of planning permission, and recommended approval subject to landscaping details.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W536/63 subject to landscaping details.
