Application for change of use of part of rifle range site for flying model aircraft.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control reminded members that the above item had been deferred at the last meeting of the Committee for consultation with the applicant on hours of use and flying area restriction.

The applicant had supplied further information regarding training, insurance, engine noise, flight area control, radio frequencies, night flying, rules and safety record, and this information was relayed to members. The applicant had also submitted a plan to show the "safe visible flying area" radius and the "over fly zone" which was the margin of error, and even this zone was well clear of the area which officers had identified as being within 200m of any dwelling. The Director's recommendation was therefore for approval with conditions limiting flight area, with operation in terms of the applicant's letter and the Government Code of Practice.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W12911/1, subject to the flight area being limited to within 200m of any dwelling, and operation in terms of the applicant's letter and the Government Code of Practice 1982, or as may be subsequently revised.
