V26-1392 : W1167/3 - THE PINES, HALL ROAD, BARSHAM
Application for erection of agricultural building.
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control concerned the above application, to which there had been twelve residents' objections on the grounds of smell, heavy traffic, rats, appearance, water run-off and loss of wildlife. The Parish Council also objected. The site was next to a small modern bungalow, and the applicant hoped to buy this property and operate a free-range egg business by erecting a poultry building in the middle of the ten acre field. The Director felt that the proposal was a normal and unexceptionable agricultural operation in the countryside and that there would be no sound or clear cut reason for refusal. He had also been reassured by a comparable scheme in Wrentham which had operated for a couple of years with no nuisance being caused. He recommended approval subject to conditions.
RESOLVED
That planning permission be granted to application W1167/3, subject to conditions covering the appearance of the building, the construction and use of access, environmental health and agency concerns, perimeter fence and hedge, annual waste disposal and removal of the building if in future it was no longer used for agriculture.
