V26-1344 : TENANT PARTICIPATION COMPACTS, BEST VALUE IN HOUSING

DETR CONSULTATION PAPERS

The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services was considered as a matter of urgency under the statutory provision accorded to the Chairman, as the matter had been received after publication of the agenda and needed urgent response.

The Director reported receipt of two Department of the Environment, Transport and Regions consultation papers, one, Tenant Participation Compact, needing response by 31 March 1999, and the other, Best Value in Housing, needing response by 16 April 1999.

Members of the Sub-Committee had been invited to join representatives from the Tenant Panel to discuss the Compacts paper, and it was felt the same members could also address the Best Value paper.

RESOLVED

That the Chairmen of Housing and Environmental Services Committee and Housing Sub-Committee and Councillor Jones be elected to a small working group to formulate a response to the DETR Consultation Papers on Tenant Participation Compacts and Best Value in Housing, and attendance be authorised as an approved duty.
