V26-1336 : LETTINGS POLICY - PROPOSED AMENDMENT

The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services reminded members that within the Lettings Policy, under the Bedroom Standards Policy, Section 3.3, a second living room/dining room could be counted as a bedroom.

However, it was not always practical for a family to use such a room as a bedroom, the most common reason being that the room had to be passed through to access other rooms in the house. This would appear to cause genuine difficulties, and it was recommended that a second living room/dining room be ignored when assessing housing needs points.

RESOLVED

That at Lettings Policy Section 3.3, Bedrooms Standards Policy, the sentence "A second living room/dining room count as one bedroom" be deleted.
