V26-1324 : SUMMER FAIR AT ROYAL GREEN, LOWESTOFT
The report of the Director of Community Services detailed the proposals of John Thurston & Son, operators of the annual Summer Funfair, to operate the 1999 Fair at Royal Green from 3 August to 30 August 1999.
In the past, complaints had been received from residents of Marine Parade and a reduction to 10 days in 1998 was seen as the best compromise. The longer period requested for 1999 was felt to be unacceptable, and a 10 day fair was considered reasonable. The usual limitations regarding noise, evening closure at 10.00pm and restriction of movement during the night would all be covered in any agreement with the operator. A rent increase of 10% was recommended for 1999, giving a rent of £315 per day for 10 days from 3 August to 12 August 1999.
RESOLVED
That the Lowestoft Summer Fair be permitted to open on Royal Green from 3 August to 12 August 1999, at a ground rent of £315 per day.
