V26-1323 : CHARTER MARK APPLICATION FOR REFUSE COLLECTION

The report of the Director of Community Services advised that following an application for a Charter Mark in July 1998 the Refuse Collection Service was "Highly Commended", only very narrowly failing to reach full award status. The process of applying had been very instructive, resulting in improvements being made and others being considered for implementation.

Having achieved Highly Commended status, a "fast track" application could be made this year. This only required evidence to show that the areas suggested for improvement had been addressed, plus completion of an additional section brought in for 1999.

RESOLVED

1. That the Contracts Management Section of the Community Services Department and the employees of Waveney Contract Services be congratulated on the high standards they achieve and the award of Highly Commended in this year's Charter Mark Awards.

2. That a fast track application be made for full Charter Mark status.
