V26-1299 : HACKNEY CARRIAGE - TABLE OF FARES

The report of the Chief Executive set out the proposed Hackney Carriage fares for the District as advertised in the local newspapers on 11 December 1998.

The report also contained responses to the advertisement from the trade and background information, and concluded by recommending an amended increase in Hackney Carriage fares, removing the odd five pences from the three start tariffs.

RESOLVED

1. That the Chief Executive be given authority to advertise the proposed amended tariff changes, and if no objections are received to approve adoption of the changes:

Tariff 1 £1.90 For the first 1,760 yards (1.61 km) or 12 minutes 2 seconds or part thereof or a combination of parts of
such distance and time
£0.10 For each subsequent 117 yards (107m) or 38
seconds or a combination of parts of such distance
and time

Tariff 2 £2.30 For the first 1,760 yards (1.61 km) or 9 minutes 12 seconds or part thereof or a combination of parts of
such distance and time.
£0.10 For each subsequent 88 yards (80.46 m) or 24
seconds or part thereof or a combination of parts of
such distance and time

Tariff 3 £5.00 For the first 1,760 yards (1.61 km) or 12 minutes or part thereof or a combination of parts of such
distance and time.
£0.10 For each subsequent 88 yards (80.46 m) or 14
seconds or part thereof or a combination of parts of
such distance and time

Extra Charges £0.30 Additional passengers - each additional passenger in excess of two (excluding infants in arms) (two
children under 10 years count as one person)
£0.30 Luggage - for use of the luggage compartment (no
restriction on number of items)

Tariff 1 To be used at all times unless otherwise specified.

Tariff 2 Nights, Sundays and Public Holidays
For any hiring commenced between the following
periods:
Monday to Friday 11pm to 7am and between 11pm
Saturday to 7am Monday, Good Friday, Easter
Monday, Whit Monday, August Bank Holiday, May
Day and after 6am New Years Day.

Tariff 3 Christmas and New Year
For hirings between 6pm 24 December and 6am 27
December
For hirings between 6pm 31 December and 6am 1
January

Vehicle Soiling A charge of £25 may be charged

2. That the Chief Executive submit proposals for a special Table of Fares for the period to cover New Year's Eve 1999 and New Year's Day 2000.
