V26-1287 : COMMUNICATIONS

(a) Trevor Westgate

The Chairman announced with great sadness the death of a well known and well respected Lowestoft journalist Trevor Westgate. The Chairman expressed the Council's most sincere condolences to his family. The thoughts and prayers of all members and officers were with them at this tragic time.

The Chairman informed members that there would be a private family cremation but a memorial service was expected to be held in due course. The Council stood in silent tribute to remember Trevor Westgate.

(b) HMS Walney

The Chairman informed members of the success of the recent visit of the District's adopted ship to Lowestoft. In recognition of this visit the Captain had presented to the Chairman a plaque and framed photograph of the ship.

(c) Civic Reception

The Chairman reminded members that his Civic Reception would be held at Park Hill Hotel, Oulton, on Sunday, 18 April 1999.
