V26-1241 : NORTH EAST SUFFOLK BUSINESS CENTRE DEVELOPMENT

The report of the Chief Executive reminded members that Suffolk County Council, as owners of the development, had asked this Council to oversee management of the new North East Suffolk Business Centre, formerly known as the Managed Workshop Scheme, under construction on the South Lowestoft Industrial Estate,

As the responsibility would ultimately fall on the already stretched Economic Development Unit, it was proposed that the day to day management of the Centre be contracted out to the Lowestoft Enterprise Trust.

RECOMMENDED

1. That the Council accepts the role of overseeing management of the new North East Suffolk Business Centre development due to open in April 1999.

2. That the Director of Central Services be given delegated authority to complete negotiations with the Lowestoft Enterprise Trust for them to undertake complete management of the Centre including routine property maintenance, financial control and lettings.
