V26-123 : ST. PETERS COURT, LOWESTOFT

The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services relayed the findings of the consultants report which identified defects of an urgent nature needing to be undertaken before any major refurbishment. The report also identified a major safety risk with the roof area still used by tenants for drying washing and sunbathing, and cited last years airshow when the roof was full with tenants and their friends and relations. Members felt this was an accident waiting to happen.

RESOLVED

1. That the existing wired glass panels on the roof of St Peters Court be replaced by laminated sheets and additional handrails installed for workmens access to the roof area, at a cost of £10,000 to be met from existing budgets.

2. That the roof area of St Peters Court be closed to all tenant/public access, and only workmen in future be permitted access for essential repairs.
