V26-1227 : STAFF RESOURCES IN CONSTRUCTION DIVISION

The report of the Director of Community Services identified changes to the workload of the Construction Division of the Community Services Department and inadequacies in the present staff resources to deal with these increases.

A new post was proposed in the Coast Protection Section which would be substantially offset through grant aid from the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food. Two new posts were also proposed in the Highways Section which would be funded in part or in whole by the loss of post CC112 and the existing post CC106, together with increased income through the Agency agreement with Suffolk County Council. It was envisaged that the Coast Protection Section post would be appointed internally, the resulting vacant post being deleted.

RECOMMENDED

1. That a new Post CC414 Assistant Engineer (Capital) be established in the Coast Protection section of the Construction Division on Grade SO1/2.

2. That this post be advertised internally in the first instance, and that should an appointment be made the resulting vacant post be deleted, provided its workload can be absorbed into the existing establishment.

3. That new Posts CC106 Assistant Engineer (Transportation) and CC113 Trainee Technician be established in the Highways and Transportation Section of the Construction Division, on Grades SO1/2 and 1/6 respectively.
