Application for two storey side and garage extensions.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control reminded members that planning permission was refused in December 1997 for the conversion of the existing garage at the above to bedroom/study and erection of double garage in the front garden. An appeal was lodged and dismissed by the Inspector.

The current proposal was for a two-storey side extension and the erection of a single storey extension protruding 5.7 metres towards the front of the dwelling to create a double stacked garage. The Director felt that the principle of erecting a two storey side extension was acceptable, but the front extension would be out of character and scale with the original house. He recommended delegated authority to approve the side extension with the deletion of the garage from the application.

RESOLVED

That the Director of Planning and Building Control be given delegated authority to grant planning permission to an amended application W16951/1, deleting the double garage extension.
