Application for change of use to restaurant and cafeteria, new shop front and three storey rear extension and associated facilities.

The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control detailed the above application for an acceptable change of use to restaurant and cafeteria on ground and first floor. It was also proposed to install a Victorian style shopfront and erect a three storey extension at the rear to provide toilet and staff facilities.

Although the new shopfront was to be encouraged, discussions had taken place with the applicant concerning a more modern, innovative design approach which would be more appropriate given the style of building. A design was shown to members, and the Director recommended delegated authority to approve an acceptable revision. Members felt, however, that as the shop was in such a prominent position on the Triangle Market area, they would like to consider the final drawings themselves.

RESOLVED

That consideration of application W14640/2 be deferred for consultation on amended design.
