V26-1206 : W5027/4 - THE COASTGUARD STATION, GORDON ROAD, LOWESTOFT
Application for conversion of building to three self-contained flats.
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control outlined an application to convert part of the former Coastguard Station to provide two flats and one maisonette. Concerns had been raised by neighbouring premises with regard to loss of privacy as there was only a four foot high fence between the properties. The height of the boundary fence would therefore be increased to lessen the impact on neighbours, and a condition to approval would be that certain first floor windows should have their lower section obscure glazed to avoid overlooking at this level.
Although an intensive use, the flats had good internal standards and adequate external amenity area and car parking, and subject to the obscure glazing condition the recommendation of the Director was for approval.
RESOLVED
That planning permission be granted to application W5027/4, subject to obscure glazing of the lower section of certain first floor windows.
