V26-1180 : A/W867 - 123A CARLTON ROAD, LOWESTOFT
Application for illuminated wall sign.
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control concerned the above application for retrospective consent for an illuminated sign advertising the Lowestoft Railway Bowls and Social Club on Carlton Road in South Lowestoft. Although fairly bright, the sign was set some 20 metres from the road frontage and did not adversely affect passing traffic. It was also considered not prominent in the street scene or to have an adverse impact on adjacent properties, although objections had been raised. The Director felt that it was not unreasonable for this type of leisure premises to expect to have such a sign, and his recommendation was for approval.
RESOLVED
That planning permission be granted to application A/W867, subject to illumination only during opening hours of the premises.
(Councillors Keable and Young and the Director of Planning and Building Control declared an interest in the above item and left the room during the debate).
