V26-1130 : HOLIDAY PLAYSCHEMES

The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services reminded members of the success of the Holiday Playscheme project in 1998 and previous years. Additionally in 1998 a mobile playscheme doorstep project had been undertaken and proved highly successful, with over 70% at each scheme tenants' children.

Action for Families, who operated the scheme on behalf of the Council had produced a detailed report which would be made available in the Members' Room.

The budget for the project had been held for two years at £16,500, with Action for Families and Suffolk Social Services funding the remaining cost of £3,000 for 1997/1998. The Chairman of Housing and Environmental Services asked that the possibility be looked into of some money from the project being set aside in case of damage at any of the schools used.

RESOLVED

That consideration be given in the forward budget for the provision of £17,000 for the 1999/2000 Holiday Playscheme and Doorstep Project, to be administered by Action for Families on behalf of the Council.
