V26-1127 : CAPITAL PROGRAMME PROJECTS - SCHEME UPDATE
The report of the Director of Housing and Environmental Services updated progress and budget information on a variety of projects within the Housing Capital Programme. Regarding the Lay-by Parking Schemes, the original estimates had included a provisional sum for public utilities work which was not encountered during construction, leaving a budget provision of £29k. In addition, the Brampton "kickabout" area and Mount Pleasant, Reydon schemes were unlikely to proceed in the current financial year. Additional works had been identified to take account of current underspend, requiring a revised overall budget of £62.5k, which could be accommodated within the Housing Capital Programme.
RESOLVED
1. That 24 drop kerb vehicle crossings identified as of benefit to individual properties be progressed at an estimated cost of £18k,
2. That the Director of Housing and Environmental Services be given delegated authority to insert more drop kerb crossings into the budget should revised costings in tandem with the Suffolk County Council footpaths programme permit
3. That the 1999/2000 Housing Capital Programme concentrate on the provision of drop kerb vehicle crossings rather than lay-by schemes.
4. That safety surfacing and dog proof fencing be provided at the existing play areas at Bourne Road and Stoven Close, Lowestoft at an estimated combined cost of £26k.
