V26-1118 : LOWESTOFT SEAFRONT AIR FESTIVAL - TRADE/CATERING STANDS

The report of the Director of Community Services reminded members that M & B Market Promotions were engaged at the 1998 Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival to promote and manage lettings on the seafront for trade and catering stands. Due to the success of this operation it was proposed that the company be engaged for the 1999 Festival on similar terms to the 1998 event.

Discussions on the 1999 Festival had already taken place with M & B Promotions to enable deadlines in trade magazines to be met and to avoid losing the interest of traders who had contacted the company to date. In compliance with Standing Order 6.2(c) the Committee was informed of this proposed action and approval was sought. Members were happy to approve the recommendation, but requested that officers speak to M & B Promotions regarding the noisy stalls which brought complaints at the 1998 Festival.

RESOLVED

That M & B Market Promotions be let the market stall rights for the seafront on the days of the Lowestoft Seafront Air Festival 1999, at the agreed terms of expenses up to £2,000 plus 50% of the net profit, due to the specialised nature of the work and in accordance with the provisions of Standing Order 6.2(c).
