V26-1047 : EXTERNAL AUDIT PROGRESS REPORT

The Chairman welcomed Julian Rickett from Pricewaterhouse Coopers, the Council's external auditors, to the meeting to report on progress with the 1998 audit work.

An outline of the programme of work for the year was presented to the Sub Committee on 10 March 1998, and a progress report summarising the position of the main areas was made. Several key issues were highlighted including work on housing benefit fraud, statement of accounts and performance indicators.

The formal "Management Letter for 1998" which was issued at the conclusion of the year's audit would be presented to the Policy and Resources Committee on 7 January 1999.

RESOLVED

That the External Auditor's Progress Report be received.
