V26-104 : TENNIS COURTS - HOTSON ROAD, SOUTHWOLD

The report of the Director of Community Services provided an update on the tennis court site at Hotson Road, Southwold, which was leased by the Council to the Southwold Tennis Club, following consideration of a number of options for the future of the Club.

The Tennis Club wished to remain at Hotson Road, as was their right as tenants, and it was in the interest of all parties that the status of the site was confirmed so that funding packages could be considered by the Club for refurbishment of the playing surface and surrounding facilities. External funding bodies such as the National Lottery required the applicant to be in possession of the freehold, or long leasehold if they were to consider financial support.

RESOLVED

That the Director of Central Services negotiate a new lease with Southwold Tennis Club for the Tennis Court Site at Hotson Road, Southwold, of a duration in line with National Lottery Sports Council criteria.
