V26-1019 : W2867/15 - HAMILTON HOUSE, BATTERY GREEN ROAD, LOWESTOFT
Application for conversion of furniture retail to restaurant and bar.
The report of the Director of Planning and Building Control outlined a proposal to establish a bar at ground floor level with a restaurant at first floor level at the above existing furniture store. The proposal would establish employment for 25 full time staff and six part time. Parking provision was limited to 11 spaces to the rear of the premises, although the applicant had stated that other parking would be available during the evening. Public car parks were located nearby.
A previous application was refused for a nightclub and disco in December 1995 on grounds of disturbance to other users within the building. The current proposal, however, was for the consumption of food and drink only, and as such was unlikely to create the same degree of disturbance or conflict. The Director recommended approval for the above use only. RESOLVED
That planning permission be granted to application W2867/15, subject to use only as a restaurant and bar.
