V26-1005 : MONCKTON AVENUE NURSERY - ADDITIONAL GREENHOUSES
The report of the Director of Waveney Contract Services explained the necessity for additional greenhouse space at Monckton Avenue Nursery, Lowestoft, to meet the potential needs of securing the tender fur supplying bedding plants for Great Yarmouth Borough Council, and the additional plants required for Lowestoft in Bloom.
The Director added that since preparing his report he had been advised that up to18,000 plants would be required for the new Wellington Gardens scheme, which equated to 10% of the annual growth.
It was proposed to erect polythene covered tunnels giving an additional 1,000 square metres at a price of approximately £10,000. This would be met from the Grounds Maintenance overhead account for 1998/99. Planning permission was granted on 18 November 1998. RESOLVED
1. That subject to the tender bid for the supply of bedding plants for Great Yarmouth Borough Council being successful, additional greenhouse space be installed at Monckton Avenue Nursery, Lowestoft at an approximate cost of £10,000 to also accommodate the additional plants required for the Wellington Garden scheme.
2. That should the bid referred to above not be successful then a smaller greenhouse space be installed at an appropriately reduced cost to accommodate the additional plants required for the Wellington Garden scheme.
