Application for redevelopment of car dealership site.

The recommendation of the Director of Planning and Building Control was for refusal, as the proposed elevated test track at the front of the site would have a serious adverse visual impact on the approach to the town and on nearby residences.

The County Surveyor recommended refusal as the test track would be a distraction to passing motorists and could create highway dangers. The Town Council were happy with the proposal, subject to satisfactory reports on potential noise and the distraction to passing drivers from the test track.

The Director also reported that the frontage of this site was dominated by vehicles and an unauthorised display area was being used in front of the wholesale warehouse.

RESOLVED

1. That planning permission be refused to application W7348/7.

2. That the Chief Executive be authorised to take all necessary enforcement action to ensure the cessation of the unauthorised display use in front of the wholesale warehouse.
