Application for change of use to childcare centre.

The recommendation of the Director of Planning and Building Control was for refusal, as the proposal involved the loss of industrial premises contrary to Policy E2 and would be likely to generate problems of traffic conflict and child safety arising from the operations of existing industrial users. The Highway Authority endorsed this view.

The Town Council supported the application. There had been 39 letters of support from users and also Bungay High School. Social Services had made no formal response, but considered that the building could be acceptable with significant adaption, however, they would require an undertaking that the other units would not be rented to uses detrimental to children.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be refused to application W2289/9.
