V25-955 : MARIE JEMIMA PIPE CHARITY
The DCeS reminded members that the purpose of the Marie Jemima Pipe Charity was to assist Lowestoft Fishermen who were in need. The income for the year from investments was likely to be about £1,500 and in addition, a balance of £741 was available from undistributed income in earlier years. In previous years, some of the funds had been distributed with the assistance of the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen. Last year the following sums were distributed in that way: (a) £500 to the Mission's Christmas Cheer Fund
(b) £750 in 10 grants to individuals or families nominated by the Mission The Christmas Cheer Fund was distributed in the form of gift vouchers. The income was higher this year as a result of the closure of the Lowestoft Fishermen's Shelter Trust and the transfer of its assets to the Charity. The Trustees were asked to consider what assistance should be given via the Mission this year. The outcome of discussions with the Mission was reported at the meeting. RESOLVED
1. That a grant of £500 be made to the Mission's Christmas Cheer Fund. 2. That up to £1,000 in grants be made to the individuals and families as nominated by the Mission, with the individual amounts to be determined by the Director of Central Services, in consultation with the Chairman, to reflect the needs of the nominees. 3. That the Director of Central Services be given delegated authority, in consultation with the Chairman, to award additional grants this year if and when the need is identified. The Meeting was concluded at 6.55 pm
