Application for change of use from engineering workshop to garden machinery repairs and ancillary sales.

The recommendation of the Director of Planning and Building Control was for approval, as this site had been used for repair of heavy machinery and refusal could thus not be justified. However, it was felt that approval should be subject to a condition restricting noisy activities except in a soundproofed enclosure within the workshop.

The Town Council were concerned with noise disturbance to the nearby residential area and recommended refusal. A neighbour had objected to the potential noise from the proposed activities.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be granted to application W338/34, subject to noisy activities being conducted within a soundproofed enclosure in the workshop.
