Application for extensions to second floor.

The Director of Planning and Building Control reminded members that the Sub-Committee had approved extensions to this property two months ago. This application was for further extensions at the second floor level, and although parts of this proposal would improve the appearance of the building the extension of the third storey would be excessively dominant when seen from neighbouring properties; he recommended refusal.

Objections were reported from neighbours on the grounds of loss of privacy, overlooking and the impact on the skyline. The Bungay Society had objected as the proposed additions would further confuse the elevations of the building's extensions. The Town Council's observation was for refusal, as the building had been developed to its full extent and this proposal would produce an unsightly appearance and overlooking.

The Sub-Committee agreed with these views and felt the addition of a lift shaft with a pitched roof was the only aspect of the proposal not detrimental. Members would be minded to approve this particular aspect should the applicant submit a revised application.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be refused to application W7843/10.
