V25-854 : EAST POINT PAVILION EXHIBITION AREA
The Director of Community Services reported that a two year trial period was commenced in 1996 for the production of exhibitions in the East Point Pavilion (EPP), in the area formerly known as The Lowestoft Story. This was to evaluate the viability of producing a changing programme of exhibitions in the EPP, attracting more visitors and increasing income for the facility. Although these exhibitions had been successful in attracting new and repeat visitors into the EPP, they had not proved to be cost effective and did not generate an income relative to the amount of available floor space they used. For this reason, although the two year period did not end until 31 March 1998, approval was sought to investigate other uses for the exhibition space that would generate further income, so that any refurbishments or changes could be made in time for the start of the new season on 1 April 1998. RESOLVED
That alternatives uses for the exhibition area at the East Point Pavilion, that will generate further income for the facility be investigated.
