V25-853 : LOWESTOFT SEAFRONT AIR SHOW

At the last meeting of this Committee it was requested that a further progress report be made on the Lowestoft Seafront Air Show.

The Director of Community Services advised that he was in the process of estimating costs for next year's proposed Airshow, to include an increase in budget to allow for marketing and the production of a programme. The provisional booking of aircraft was also being looked into.

The Director of the Airshow was seeking a major sponsor in the hope of securing £15-£16,000. Local businesses had also been approached, and the Manager of the Hotel Hatfield had agreed to co-ordinate these sponsors in the hope of raising up to £12,000. With a total turnover of costs estimated to be around £40,000, this left an amount of £13,000 which it was hoped may be received from either the European Regional Development Fund or other sources. Officers had also been advised that the Government Office for the Eastern Region would welcome a grant application for the show aiming for an improvement on the Air Show this year to an Air Festival being held as a regular event over the next three years.

RESOLVED

That the progress report on the Lowestoft Seafront Air Show be received, and a further report be presented to the next meeting of the Committee.
