V25-852 : ANGLIA IN BLOOM RESULTS
The Director of Community Services advised that at minute V25-669 it was reported that the Lowestoft in Bloom Committee would be attending the Anglia in Bloom Award Ceremony in Clacton on 19 September 1997. Although Lowestoft was not placed in the Large Town competition in which it was entered, the town achieved the accolade of best new entry in its category of Large Town to Large City. Lowestoft also came second in the best community project category, for work done by the Bonds Meadow Management Group. Following their first successful year it was suggested that the Council could give positive support by offering up to £2,000 to allow Lowestoft in Bloom to expand their work and improve on this year's entry. In its third year of entry, Bungay was runner-up in the Best Small Country Town competition, and they came third in the Best Local Competition category. Members were asked to offer the Bungay in Bloom organisation some financial incentive for next year to encourage their continuing improvement. RESOLVED
1. That an immediate grant of £300 be made to Lowestoft in Bloom to cover administrative costs and the question of a further grant be considered after the next Lowestoft in Bloom meeting. 2. That the Bungay in Bloom organisation be offered £300 for its work next year, to be met from within existing budgets.
