V25-850 : SUFFOLK AND EASTERN SPORTS ORGANISATIONS
The Director of Community Services reported that the demise of the Eastern Council for Sports and Recreation had led to the formation of the Eastern Sport organisation. Eastern Sport had established county forums which involved elected members, voluntary organisations, professionals and officers involved in the delivery of sport. The constitution of Eastern Sport required the election of two local Authority members and two officers from Suffolk Sport. Councillor Kelly had served on Eastern Sport for the past year, and at the last Suffolk Sport meeting he was elected to serve for another year. The constitution of Suffolk Sport provided two options for either the election of Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary, drawn respectively from members and officers, or the rotation of these posts around Suffolk Sports representatives. At the last meeting of Suffolk Sport the election of Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary was postponed in order to allow representatives the opportunity to report to their organisations that a 12 month rotation of these posts was the preferred option, with Councillor Kelly being nominated as Chairman, and Mr P Waring, Head of Leisure Services, as Secretary for the ensuing year. RESOLVED
1. That Councillor Kelly be confirmed as a Suffolk Sport representative to Eastern Sport. 2. That Councillor Kelly accept the nomination for Chairman of Suffolk Sport for the ensuing year, with Mr P Waring, Head of Leisure Services acting as Secretary.
