V25-847 : CONSERVATION AREA EXTENSIONS AND ARTICLE 4.2 DIRECTIONS
The Committee considered the report of the Director of Planning and Building Control which detailed the response received to the public advertisement and consultation carried out in respect of the Conservation Area extensions and Article 4.2 Directions in Lowestoft, Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth and Southwold. The Director commented that in extending the South Lowestoft Conservation Area to include the commercial area of London Road South, it would be necessary to combine this with a significant enhancement programme. A decision in principle on the CAPs bid for South Lowestoft, which provided some of the required funding for this enhancement work, was expected from English Heritage by November this year. It was suggested that confirmation of this conservation area extension should be dependent on that decision. RESOLVED
1. That the Article 4.2 Directions for the existing conservation areas in Lowestoft, Beccles, Bungay and Halesworth and Southwold be confirmed. 2. That the statutory advert be carried out regarding the introduction of Article 4.2 Directions for the extensions to the Conservation Areas in Lowestoft, Halesworth and Southwold. 3. That designation of the Conservation Area extension in London Road South, Lowestoft be made following confirmation of English Heritage Funding for grant assistance. (Councillor Francis declared an interest in the above item and left the room during the debate.) The Meeting was concluded at 8.50 pm
