V25-845 : RESIDENTIAL DESIGN GUIDELINES

A COMPLEMENT TO THE SUFFOLK DESIGN GUIDE
The Committee considered the document Residential Design Guidelines - A Complement to the Suffolk Design Guide which had recently been produced by the Local Plans Section. Most of the guidelines contained in this document had been used to assist in the determination of planning applications for residential development within the District for many years. In 1994, the guidelines were refined to form a local complement to the Suffolk Design Guide and were placed in the appendices of the deposit version of the Waveney Local Plan for public consultation. There were no objections to this appendix or to the appendix that contained detailed advice relating to accessible and adaptable housing, other than that the status of the appendices was unclear. The Inspector for the Local Plan Inquiry concluded that both appendices, as they provided additional guidance to supplement policies, would be more appropriately produced as separate documents to the Waveney Local Plan. The Council accepted this recommendation and as a consequence the two appendices had been reproduced to form this document. RESOLVED
1. That the Residential Design Guidelines - A Complement to the Suffolk Design Guide be approved as Supplementary Planning Guidance. *Policy Decision
2. That public art be considered in a future report brought to this Committee.
