V25-77 : W3582/9 - LAND REAR OF 84/86 COMMODORE ROAD, LOWESTOFT

Application for change of use from workshop to residential accommodation.

The recommendation of the Director of Planning and Building Control was for approval, subject to agreement on amendments to reduce loss of light and outlook to the immediate neighbour. A neighbours objection was reported, along with one letter of support as the proposal would result in the extinguishment of a car repair business in a residential area.

Members were concerned at the poor access to the site, that approval of what was effectively a backland site would send out the wrong messages, and that the development as proposed would lead to properties sited less than 18 inches together at one point.

RESOLVED

That planning permission be refused to application W3582/9.
