V25-767 : FISHERIES NETWORK
The Sub-Committee considered the report of the Chief Executive which examined the need to establish a National Local Authorities Fisheries Network to lobby for changes in the common fisheries policy. This Sub-Committee had sent a member and officer representative to the inaugural meeting of the Fisheries Network on 25 July 1997. It was felt that Lowestoft, as a major UK port, had an important role to play in representing the region and in partnership with the industry an appropriate representative should be identified to participate in the Network. RECOMMENDED
1 That after consultation and in partnership with the industry a local representative be identified to fulfill the role on the Fisheries Network. 2 That if an industry representative cannot be identified to participate in the network the Council will, subject to consultation with Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council, strive to fulfil that role.
