Application for side extension to shop No. 3 for storage purposes.

The recommendation of the Director of Planning and Building Control was, on balance, for approval. The application was a resubmission of a scheme which was previously refused on the grounds of noise disturbance, highway hazard and effects on residents parking. The new proposal addressed the issues, with greatly reduced finishing use confined to a purpose built enclosure within the existing premises. Access for deliveries would be via the existing forecourt, which subject to the installation of bollards, would address highway issues and not interfere with residents parking. Neighbours objections were reported.

Members reiterated concerns over an apparent small industrial unit bordering a mainly residential area. Further concerns were expressed on 'piecemeal' overdevelopment of the site and frequency of delivery vehicle visits in an already busy area causing disturbance to immediate neighbours.

RESOLVED

That planning permission by refused to application W4091/10.
