V25-730 : FITNESS AND HEALTH PROMOTION
At the last meeting the Sub-Committee considered a report on staff absence levels which referred to initiatives being investigated to promote fitness and health. At members request a further report had been provided detailing a range of services that could be offered to employees, all associated with the Waveney Sports & Leisure Centre, to encourage health and fitness. These included: (i) Health Assessments - these would be voluntary and paid for by the Council at a cost of £15. (ii) Winners Corporate Package - the joining fee of £24 would give a tailored exercise programme. Members could then take up User Cards at a reduced sum. (iii) Lunchtime Usage - of swimming, squash and other dry sports at the "Passport to Leisure" rate (half-price) for Monday-Friday lunchtimes. (iv) Family Pass - unlimited swimming and roller-skating for up to two adults and three children over a weekend for £6. (v) Lunchtime Aerobics - special sessions could be organised at a reduced sum of £2.00. RECOMMENDED
1. That Voluntary Health Assessments be introduced for employees at a cost of £15 per Assessment. *No Budget Provision
2. That the employee fitness promotion offers proposed by Waveney Contract Services be approved.
